1. Entrance to the U.S. Embassy

 

The visa interview place is on the right side of the embassy, not the front side of the U.S. embassy.

If there are a lot of people waiting, you may have to line up before entering.

 

When you book a visa interview,

you are advised to enter 15 minutes before the scheduled time, but if you arrive early, you can enter early.

 

It would be advantageous to enter first before the wait gets longer.

 

Woojoodream booked an interview at 9:45 a.m. and had to enter by 9:30 a.m.

I arrived at the US Embassy at 9 a.m.,

but the guide at the entrance showed me to enter right away, so I entered without waiting.

 

Submit your passport and verify your identity at the information desk near the entrance.

 

Only one electronic device can be stored,

so U.S. embassy will check whether there is a laptop or tablet.

 

If you have a laptop or tablet, you cannot enter,

and you will be asked to re-enter after storing it in a nearby locker.

 

After this procedure, enter the right entrance.

 

 

2. Submit electronics and check the security

 

Submit electronic products as soon as you enter the entrance and conduct a security inspection.

 

It is said that only one electronic device can be stored when booking an interview,

but in addition to one mobile phone, small electronic products such as smartwatches and Bluetooth earphones can be stored together.

 

In the case of Woojoodream, I kept 1 cell phone and 1 smartwatch.

 

Once you have finished storing, you will receive the storage certificate.

When you leave the interview, you submit your storage certificate and receive your storage back.

 

Pass through the security check after checking the bag items, etc.

 

3. Go to interview location on 2nd floor

After the security check, go to the 2nd floor where the visa interview is conducted.

 

4. Passport and interview documents 1st check

 

Follow the information arrow at the interview place on the 2nd floor.

 

If you turn right at the entrance on the 2nd floor,

you'll find the information desk, which will check the documents first.

 

After checking the passport and interview documents,

attach a sticker on your passport about the interview information,

organize the necessary documents, and deliver them.

3. DS-160 Confirmation
4. DS-2019
5. Interview Appointment Confirmation

The offer letter did not check separately.

 

5. Secondary verification of passport and interview documentation and fingerprint registration

 

After checking the documents first, move along the guideline.

 

In the case of woojoodream, waiting time occurred from this stage.

 

Procedures are carried out in order of waiting at 4 counters.

 

When it's your turn,

go to the counter and submit the documents and passport that you organized when you checked at the previous process.

 

There are no questions and answers,

it delivers documents related to workers' human rights,

registers all 10 fingerprints, and moves on to the next step.

 

6. Consular interview

It's the stage with the longest waiting time.
In the case of woojoodream, I waited for 30 minutes at this stage.

 

While waiting before the consular interview, the concierge decides the necessary documents.
For J-1 visa, only DS-2019 and passport were required.

 

The consular interview was completed in 1-2 minutes.
You can proceed in English or request an interpreter if necessary.

 

The question of the consular interview was as follows.

The visa interview at the U.S. Embassy was conducted comfortably.
There was no inconvenience other than the long waiting time,

and the consular interview went smoothly.

 

If you arrive near the reservation time,

it would be good to take advantage of the fact that you can enter quickly without having to be on time.
